A new light...

In my last post I mentioned that I will be working on a new format for blogging and that small planned overhaul has turned into a bigger plan to change almost everything about how I have my work organized on the net and in life in general. I'm calling it a creative spring cleaning, and it is very much overdue.

In fact I'm feeling the need to spring clean our little loft too. We don't do clutter but I'm starting to feel like we are holding on to things we don't need so things are feeling a bit cluttered. Does that make sense? Do you ever have that overwhelming feeling to clear out objects, clothes etc. that no longer serve a purpose? I kind of feel like I need to call a professional organizer though...this task is a bit daunting.

Anyway, I feel great about these new changes and hope to unveil them soon.
In the mean time I hope you're enjoying spring as much as I am.

Shop(s) open...

Hello lovely people. I am thrilled to announce that my Etsy shop(s) are finally open. Yes, I set out to launch one Etsy shop and ended up launching two.

shopSUITE404 - is where I have all of my "Suite 404" prints, stationery and letterpress stuff posted.
KingaSubjectArt - is where I have listed my original paintings.

I wanted to keep these two things separate because I kind of have two slightly different aesthetics going on in each and I didn't want Suite 404 to become that crazy kind of anything goes shop. I don't want to confuse people or overwhelm them.

It has been time consuming to list things so I have a ways to go yet in terms of filling these spaces but I'll get there eventually. In the mean time, you're welcome to check it out...just know that not all things are listed and in their place yet. I welcome any constructive feedback too...

Also, next week I hope to resume a more normal posting schedule here on the blog, with a slightly different approach...I'm so ready to return to a more normal routine in my life. Things have been crazy!

As always, thank you for stopping by. Wishing you a fabulous weekend.

Paintings and a launch date...

Hello friends. I hope that you have all been doing well. I wanted to share with you some of the things that I have been working on in the past little while, including these acrylic paintings on wood panels. I have a small collection of these ready to list...which I will be doing on Saturday, April 20th.

Yes, that's right. After taking what seems like forever to get myself ready, and after missing one planned launch date already, I'm finally going to list my work in an Etsy shop. I will have links and info next week and after the launch, once I get a grip on things, I will share a lookbook that I have been working on as well. It's interesting to see how all of the work I've done over the past two years is looking as a collection and I hope there is enough cohesion. This is something I always worry about because I'm not just interested in creating one type of art; I paint and I dabble with print-making and letterpress. My interests are varied, but the variety is what makes me tick creatively so I hope I've managed to make it all fit together. Time will tell I guess...

So April 20th it is...

The Ongoing Chalkboard Project {4}

This ongoing winter that never seems to want to end has me drawing naked trees and wishing for the green and warmth of spring. But let's not talk about the weather...

How are you?

{A decent exposure} Let go

 photo Let-Go_zps9823de59.gif
Sometimes the only option you have is to just let it go... An argument. Expectation. Jealousy. Anger. Defeat. Victory. You just have to let it go. You'll know you're hanging on to something that may be weighing you down if you find yourself making mental movies about what you'd say, what you'd do, how you'd do it...if given the chance.

You know you've been there ( I can't possibly be the only one). Making up the script in your head, word for word, about how the argument would go, or should go, so that the outcome would be in your favour. So that you can make your point. Maybe you rehearse this mental movie when you're alone in the car on your long commute home. Maybe you tell someone else about how the hypothetical situation would go if it were to become a reality. But trust me (and it's harder said than done), let it go. It's holding you back. It's weighing you down. It's eating up your present moment. Don't let it.

Let go...
