Adventures in baking...{5}

Can we chat candidly for a moment? This morning I heard a Christmas jingle on the radio and while part of me was excited because I love Christmas there was a more dominant part of me that was saying NO! No no no!
People! Halloween is barely over. I'm still enjoying mini chocolate bars and humming the Monster Mash to myself...I'm not ready for the most wonderful time of the year! I just need a few more weeks...

So the bright sunshine and warmer than normal climate today is prompting me to share this summery clafoutis. I made this...oh a while ago...and followed this recipe loosely. I used raspberries instead of blueberries and baked the clafoutis in ramekins instead of one baking dish. It turned out great and since I was so abruptly reminded of Christmas this morning, I decided I should make some seasonal clafoutis using spiced plums or cranberries. Martha Stewart actually has some fun clafoutis recipes that I just might have to try...

Happy Wednesday to you!

Hey Kinga! Love to connect with fellow BYW students! Wow, your photography skills are amazing. Wish I were that good:-) Which camera do you use?

Hi Igor! Thanks for your kind words...I use a Nikon D90 mostly with a 50mm lens. It's compact enough that I can carry it with me everywhere I go... I am sooooo glad I signed up for BYW...It has been a serious source of inspiration...sad it's coming to a close.

Oh these look soooo good Kinga! Yum! I'm ignoring the Christmas cheer for now, lol. Halloween just ended! I'm afraid to go to Starbucks, in case I get a Christmas cup, lol...

Daniella - HAHA yeah...people were saying the Christmas cups are out full force at Starbucks lol!...and I've already seen several holiday commercials...I'm not ready!

I'm usually not up for the early Christmas cheer either, but I bought a peppermint mocha today and have been listening to the new She & Him Christmas album. Not sure what's gotten into me, ha ha. Love the pictures.

Heather - Thank you! I could go for a peppermint mocha right about now. That is one thing I don't mind about the early onset of cheer...the specialty drinks...can we say Gingerbread Latte? Yumm!

Hi Kinga, Your clafoutis look yummy! I have never tried one before, but it on my ‘must to try list’ now, and recipe sounds easy enough. I know what you mean about Christmas, too early too soon. You can by all your Christmassy goodies starting from September here in Australia. Helps me to lose the Christmas spirit :) and its screwing my head and confuses me every year, it’s just begging of spring and we are getting ready for Christmas. How weird?

Hi Kinga,
I'm with you about the Christmas music. I actually BOUGHT Susan Boyle's Christmas album last week, and when it came I tried to listen to it, but no. Couldn't stand to hear the carols yet!

But I'm also with Heather. Yesterday at the ice cream store, they had peppermint chocolate chip. Mm-hmm. So I had a chocolate shake with that.

Great pictures! Happy Thursday!

These look delish, Kinga! I don't normally love cooked fruit, but for a clafoutis, I do a complete turnaround!

I'm with you on the following things as well: feeling mixed about Christmas (too soon, but excited too), loving my 50 mm (although mine's on a Canon), and totally sad that BYW is coming to a close. Looking forward to keeping some new friends though.

BlueBerry Ash - Thanks Maria, The clafoutis was really good...and now I want to try making it a bunch of different ways. I can't imagine what it would be like preparing for Christmas and spring at the same time. It would be odd for me too...

Noreen - I couldn't quite listen to Christmas music just yet either...and, sadly I'm not much of a fan of chocolate and peppermint together...but, a cup of peppermint tea always makes me think of Christmas.

Lauren - Thank you! I don't think I could function without my 50mm...people always ask what kind of camera I use...I usually just tell them it's all in the lens.

Theresa - Thank you so much for stopping by and for your kind words of encouragement. I feel like I have "met" some of the best people in the world having done this course. Also, I'm looking forward to the weekend so I can spend more time discovering all these amazing blogs! Best wishes to you and I'll be keeping in touch for sure!
